Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8, leaving behind a colossal heritage and possessions. With the funeral over, Majesty magazine editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward now talks about the legacy left by the monarch, including the sumptuous jewelry and outfits…

According to her, it is the Princess of Wales who will receive the “major part” of the clothing collection and a good number of jewels that belonged to Elizabeth II. But it’s the queen consort, Camilla, who “will make the first choice among the incredible pieces of the collection”.

In addition to the Crown jewels, Elizabeth II had an impressive collection of private jewels. According to The Times, it is 300 jewels, including 98 brooches, 46 necklaces, 34 pairs of earrings, 15 rings, 14 watches and five pendants.

And to develop: “I imagine that the personal jewels of Her Majesty will be given to various members of her family. The Princess of Wales as future Queen will receive the major part”, she detailed.

“There are obviously pieces that will remain for the use of the reigning monarch’s wife. They will be worn by Camilla. She will need a large collection to support her constitutional role.”

Some items, such as the late monarch’s wedding dress and coronation robe, will be ‘saved for historical purposes’ and ‘will be on display’, royal expert Christine Ross told the Daily Mail.

According to Ingrid Seward, the Queen had provided for the sharing of certain property including certain jewels which would be inherited by her children and grandchildren.

The Daily Mail expert hopes that the sovereign’s wardrobe will be passed on to members of the royal family and that pieces will be reviewed on her granddaughters or great-granddaughters after being adapted.

“I also hope that, like Princess Beatrice’s wedding dress, some of the garments will be passed down to her grandchildren. Many of the Queen’s ball gowns could be altered to suit Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, the new Princess of Wales, or even Princess Charlotte and Lilibet.”
